Clear edge pairs first: Outer tiles usually have simpler paths. Opening the edges creates corridors that make center matches possible later.
Protect future routes: Do not remove a pair that seals off the only two-turn path for a more important match nearby.
Build combos on purpose: Fast consecutive clears buy bonus time. After each match, look one pair ahead instead of scanning the whole board from zero.
Use hints as information, not autopilot: A hint should teach you a route shape you missed. If you need one every few seconds, slow down and re-scan edges.
