How to Play Tetris
Tetris is a classic puzzle game where you arrange falling blocks to create complete horizontal lines.
Game Rules:
- Different shaped blocks (tetrominoes) fall from the top of the playing field
- You can move and rotate these blocks as they fall
- Your goal is to create horizontal lines with no gaps
- When you create a complete line, it disappears and you earn points
- The game ends when the blocks stack up to the top of the playing field
Controls:
- Use left/right arrow keys to move the blocks horizontally
- Use up arrow key to rotate the block
- Use down arrow key to accelerate the block's descent
- Press spacebar to drop the block instantly
- Press P to pause/resume the game
- On mobile devices, use the on-screen controls or touch gestures
Scoring:
- 1 line cleared: 100 points
- 2 lines cleared at once: 300 points
- 3 lines cleared at once: 600 points
- 4 lines cleared at once (Tetris): 1200 points
Leveling:
- Every 10 lines cleared, your level increases
- Higher levels mean faster falling blocks
- Higher levels also mean higher scoring potential
Tips:
- Plan ahead by checking the "Next Piece" preview
- Try to keep the stack as flat as possible
- Leave a gap for the I-piece to clear multiple lines at once
- Use the hard drop (spacebar) to place blocks quickly when you're sure of placement
